For Church Leaders In Denial [video]

For Church Leaders In Denial [video]

By Jason Fowler on 07/19/2010

Sally Morgenthaler speaks candidly about the need for Church leaders to abandon the addictions of constructing self-absorbed communities of faith. Are we more devoted to maintaining our comfort levels and the stability of the Spirit-less status quo or are we willing to deconstruct our glorious religious machinery…

Jesus, The Seed of Resurrection and Life (montage: J Fowler)

The Death and Resurrection of The Seed

By Jason Fowler on 04/02/2010

Like the seed that dies, that gives itself up for life to come forth, JESUS as The Seed was placed in a tomb. Buried in darkness, for three days He ‘germinated’. Ironically, when He rose from the dead Mary Magdalene thought He was the gardener.

Gardening With GOD (original image: Christine Sine. montage: J Fowler)

Gardening With GOD

By Christine Sine on 04/02/2010

Perhaps one reason God created human beings to tend the garden is because God knew that it is in its midst that we connect most intimately to the character and ways of our Creator. Yet much theology about creation care focuses more on preserving wilderness areas and overcoming pollution than on the joy of gardening.

Are we living out of an abridged Gospel story? (image: J Fowler)

Re-Reading The Unabridged Gospel

By Jason Fowler on 03/11/2010

Somehow we’ve boiled the good news of GOD’s kingdom down to a hyper-personalized fire insurance policy for eternity- with very little implications for the ‘here and now’. Or we boil it down to…

Do we have a Biblical view of creation? (montage by J Fowler)

Redeeming Creation: The Biblical Basis for Environmental Stewardship

By Meg Dunn on 02/12/2010

Caring for the environment is a moral issue. How we interact with the world around us, not just with other people but with the stuff of the earth, is not a matter of right, but of responsibility…

Farming As A Spiritual Discipline by Ragan Sutterfield

Farming and Faith: Interview With Ragan Sutterfield

By Jason Fowler on 12/24/2009

We are creatures, limited and dependent, living in a world that God created out of the trinitarian community of love…It is our role as Christians to live as limited and dependent creatures so that the creation might flourish and all can enjoy the abundance that God has created…

Is our idea of heaven based on Scripture? (montage by J Fowler)

Where On Earth Is Heaven?

By Dean Ohlman on 12/18/2009

The realization I came to a couple decades ago kindled a new hope in my heart—the understanding of the biblical promise that heaven was going to come to earth, and that the earth was going to be redeemed by “the Lamb who was slain”…

Semper Reformanda! (illustration by J Fowler)

Semper Reformanda

By Paul Littleton on 12/18/2009

I suspect that as long as the church remains in the world there will be reform movements calling her to greater faithfulness. I’d have to agree with the Protestant Reformers who believed that that was a good thing. Not perfect. But good. Semper Reformanda. Always Reforming.

All Creation Sings: A Theology of Creation (montage by J Fowler)

All Creation Sings!

By Rich Vincent on 12/18/2009

An unbiblical view of creation will lead us to wrong living. Our theology affects our practice. Only a robust view of creation guides us in how we should live in God’s world.

Finding the Furious Longing of God

By Becky Garrison on 12/16/2009

I wasn’t expecting a book to connect with me on such a visceral level. Through Brennan’s story, I saw how I had veered off the path. For all of my talk about how we need to put the Greatest Commandment into practice, I wasn’t exactly practicing what I preach.
