Tri Robinson video about his root cellar that lead me to his homestead blog and found myself (as I have many times in the past several years) feeling a deep longing to live the life I feel called to–one of production not just consumption; one of simplicity and connection to this earth; one of real community and fellowship. I read of communities of folks working together to learn and grow their own food, sweating together toward a common goal of providing for themselves and those in need. [caption id="attachment_532" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Is GOD calling you to a new way of life? (montage by J Fowler)"][/caption] I read of people just going for it, getting away from the trappings of consumerism. I read of barn and field and root cellar; of cows and chickens, fresh milk and eggs, from their own animals- not from the factory. I read and see other doing it and I feel such a longing in my soul that I feel ready to cry, scream, jump out of my skin. Then I feel overwhelmed at how to get there. What can God be doing? Why has my heart been so enraptured with these concepts; with this way of living? Why do I despise the grocery store? How will I get to this place I hear calling me? Do you hear this call?]]>

Yes Pam I have heard this call for many years now with great effort we have slowly moved closer and closer to learning how to grow food without reducing the health of the soils, as well as raising chickens and rabbits. As I work at this more and more I’m also noticing so many scriptures that speak of the blessing of God coming to us through the land. As I’ve grown over time I now find myself longing to find other Christian people to join arms with to increase in scope and to support others to find a new way to meet their needs.
Hi Pam,
I have indeed felt this kind of desire! I just discovered this site, and am delighted to find fellow Christians who are passionate about the same kind of things that I am. I’m not sure how many people will see this, but I would be interested in finding out where some of you are located. I live in the Columbus, OH area myself.
Hi there, My wife Pam doesn’t often check the website (we have seven kids and stay pretty busy) – so I thought I’d respond. We are near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Feel free to continue the conversation using our Contact page and we’ll respond. -shalom!
